The critical, national need for a scientific literate
citizenry is addressed in the development of curriculum
and teacher enhancement programs in chemical sciences
particularly, at the pre-college levels. Basic
to the effective teaching of chemical sciences
is the K-12 teacher's competency in chemistry
content as well as skills in manipulating hands-on
activities.
Chemical education is a dynamic process requiring
continuous assessment of trends and directions.
The need to ensure quality and to maintain academic
standards in chemical education must always underlie
curriculum changes and development.
Mrs. Moy is also
the faculty liaison for the Neptunium Chapter
of Iota Sigma Pi, a National Honorary Organization
for Women Chemists.
Believing that everyone
can learn if given the opportunity, Mamie Moy
strives to ensure that her students have every
opportunity to explore the world of the interdisciplinary
natural sciences. As professor of chemistry, her
enthusiasm about chemistry and her sincere enjoyment
of teaching bring joy to the learning process.
Moy's dedication shines also in her work as director
of the SMART center, a facility for the continuing
education and training of elementary and high
school teachers. |
